Cass

Cass is an enigmatic demigod born mortal but revived by their brother Pollux after an untimely death. Dying at 24, they spent their formative years as a mortal before becoming a demigod. With their ability to create portals, they can travel across the galaxy at will, though their space-jumping abilities are erratic. Adventuring on their ship, The Pegasus, Cass helps those in need, hiding their guilt and personal loss behind humor and vanity.

Plucky, kind, and a bit of a brat, Cass has a unique capacity to love and hate in equal measure. They occasionally swing between manic and depressive episodes and struggle with mental illness and self-worth. Cass doesn't fully relate to gods, preferring mortals’ company, but fearing relationships with those they’ll outlive. They care about appearance, outfitting themself and Eli in specially-made clothing and shoes. Cass is deeply in love with Eli, who they met nearly a decade ago after a 30-year crashout that followed the falling out between them and their brother.

Work is not their strong suit, preferring to spend their time dancing, shopping, sleeping and eating. Cass is one of 3 children of Leda Nymerion, with the Nymerions being one of the richest families in the galaxy. Cass and Pollux share the same father, who is one of the most ancient and powerful gods. Nonbinary and playful with gender, Cass presents as both male and female throughout the story.

Eli

Eli, a cocky and renown detective and intergalactic special agent, is a daring, dual gun-wielding action hero. Brave and reliable, he’s the person others turn to in a crisis. Eli met Cass nearly a decade before the beginning of the events of Neon Pantheon, when Cass was at the lowest point in their life, sparking an unlikely friendship and, later, an even more unlikely romance. Eli’s story is deeply tied to family trauma, and was largely raised by his aunt, who is a retired nurse turned bar-owner. His father is deceased (law enforcement) and his mother estranged.

Eli was raised in what's referred to as "The Third," the bottom-most part of the mega city planet of Promethea, where no natural light reaches. Now in young adulthood, Eli is a special agent with the Hyperion Bureau of Investigation, the intelligence and law enforcement agency that is based out of the Hyperion System, but has interests in outer systems. Eli is also a homicide detective with the Promethea Police Department, and is a minor local celebrity due to high profile cases he has closed and public acts of bravery.

Eli is patient, nurturing and a hopeless romantic, but always ready for a fight (sometimes starting them if he has to). Eli is a trained dancer, with dance serving as an escape in his teenage years. He taught a reluctant Cass how to dance shortly after they met.

Pollux

Codename: Hourglass

Pollux, Cass's twin brother, was born an immortal god, created in the image of his father, one of the strongest and oldest of the gods. After Cass's untimely demise, Pollux struck a bargain to bring Cass back from the dead, not knowing it would cost his status as a god. Cass hasn't seen Pollux in 50 years after a dramatic but unknown fallout. Pollux is an unusually powerful demigod, he is able to hasten entropy, manipulate time within a small field of control, memory walk, transform energy into weapons and has telepathic abilities. However, all of these powers come at a cost, as his demigod body was not built to be pushed so far. Pollux and Cass share the same father, who is one of the most ancient and powerful gods.

Araceli

Araceli, a romance author riddled with self-doubt, is buckling under the pressure of writing a follow-up to her bestselling debut. Then a green portal tears open in her home, unleashing twins with opposing missions: Pollux wants her dead, Cass wants her alive. Cass leaves her with a cryptic message before shoving her through another portal to the planet Jorune. With only her sharp wit, skepticism, and almost fourth-wall-breaking snark, Araceli must navigate the bizarre new world she’s been thrown into.

Hunter

Codename: Gauntlet

Hunter, the younger sister of Cass and Pollux, is equal parts accomplished and short-fused. The only Nymerion sibling seemingly set on carrying on their mother’s legacy, Hunter is a First Lady, wife to Prime Minister Tessa Thera of Sivanne, shadow ops agent and philanthropist. She can also hit really, really hard. Her demigod ability allows her to channel energy into her hands or feet, but while she can surely give a hit, she is terrible at taking one. Hunter is a member of a small special operations group called ARES (Advanced Recovery & Espionage Sector), a small collective of benevolent demigods with a special interest in keeping the Known Galaxy at large safe. They operate outside the bounds of the Hyperion Bureau of Investigation, the intelligence and law enforcement agency Eli is a special agent for.

Leilax

Leilax | Ancient Celestial Being/Good-For-Nothing-Dog | Age: Unknown | Leilax, once Cass’s mother’s dog, is a lazy, aggressive, but loyal canine companion.

COE

COE (Cognitive Operations Entity) | Android | Age: Unknown | COE is a hyper-intelligent, jittery android and Cass’s faithful companion and ship captain. More pragmatic than impulsive, COE prefers peaceful solutions and constantly calculates the risks. He was discovered by Cass and Pollux on an abandoned planet and serves as the voice of reason in their chaotic adventures.
